To enhance public awareness and improve workplace safety, disseminate knowledge of occupational safety, and protect citizens from unnecessary harm, the State Council approved a decision jointly issued by ten departments—the State Economic Commission, the State Construction Commission, the National Defense Industry Office, the State Council’s Finance and Trade Group, the State Agricultural Commission, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Health, the State Labor Administration, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, and the Central Radio and Television Bureau—to launch a National Safety Week nationwide in May 1980. It was also decided that a Safety Week would be held every May henceforth, institutionalizing and regularizing this initiative. Subsequently, the focus expanded from Safety Week to Safety Month, with each month designated around a specific theme, aiming to strengthen safety publicity and education efforts and further enhance workplace safety.
All employees participated in the special training for Safety Production Month, titled “Everyone Talks Safety, Everyone Knows How to Respond to Emergencies.”
Factory Director Li of the company’s Production Department is advancing the “Five Entrances” initiative for safety awareness, fostering a corporate safety culture, and emphasizing that risk awareness equals safety awareness.
